摘要： I shall explain sparse solutions by giving several motivated examples from Approximation Theory, Numerical Solution of PDE,  Signal Recovery, Financial Math.  Then I shall summarize some basic computational approaches: convex and nonconvex minimizations, greedy algorithms, projection methods, and etc.. Finally I shall discuss several versions of greedy algorithms, hard thresholding algorithms, and alternating projection method for sparse solution and their convergence conditions. 

报告人简介：

来明俊（Ming-Jun Lai），佐治亚大学数学系的全职教授，国际上多元样条顶尖专家。他于1982年1月从中国杭州大学获得学士学位，并于1989年8月从得克萨斯A＆M大学获得博士学位。他感兴趣的研究领域有：逼近理论，压缩感知，数学图像分析，多元样条，数值分析，PDE方程的数值解和小波分析。他与L. L. Schumaker合著“Spline Functions over Triangulations”，由剑桥大学出版社。目前已发表了100多篇论文。他的共同作者人数达到48人。
